The Beatles are an English rock group who formed in Liverpool in 1960 it consisted of members Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. They were formerly know as "The Silver Beatles" when still performing in Liverpool.The Beatles would go on to become one of the most famous music acts of the modern music era and would become the cause of the "Beatlemania" trend. The band broke up in 1970 and each member began a solo career of their own. The Beatles are The best-selling music act of all time with over 600 million record sales world wide. They scored twenty number one hits on The Billboard Hot 100. The band has won ten Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988.

Early Days and forming The Beatles (1957-1962)

In 1956 John Lennon formed the Skiffle band The Quarrymen with his friend Pete Shotton by 1957 the band had five members. On July of 1957 The Quarrymen played their first live gig at The Garden Fete at St. Peter's Church.after the live show John Lennon was introduced to Paul McCartney who played "Twenty Flight Rock" on the guitar for John, he was impressed and soon after he asked Paul to join the band.

Later in 1957 the members of The Quarrymen met with George Harrison a young guitarist they all knew they would become friends due to their common interest in music but initially Harrison was not asked to join the band however in 1958 George did join the band.

The band first began recording in 1958 The first two song recorded were covers from Buddy Holly "That'll Be The Day" and "In Spite of all the Danger". In 1958 most members left the band the only members left were John, Paul and George.
